Lincoln - The University of Nebraska will hold its annual Photo (Autograph) Day this Saturday, Aug. 17, from 1-2:30 p.m. at Memorial Stadium. Fans will be admitted at 1 p.m. through four outside gates (#3, 11, 14 and 24, all four corners) and six gates will be open to allow fans onto the field (all four corners and two on each side at midfield).
Single-file lines will form inside Memorial Stadium (see enclosed map) and fans will be limited to one signature (one item) per player or coach. The time of Photo Day was extended from one hour to 1 1/2 hours three years ago as a courtesy to the fans; however, it is not realistic to assume that signatures of all the players can be attained in this time period.
For the second consecutive year, all 105 early reporting players and coaches will be located at stations around the field. Head Coach Frank Solich and the returning players will be seated by position at various areas of the field (for seating location, see attached diagram). True freshmen and assistant coaches will spread out in the shade of the upper East stadium stands. Photos may be taken with the players as long as they are allowed to keep signing for other fans. Team and individual group pictures will not be taken until after the entire squad reports (after Aug. 23).
Pre-signed autograph cards and blank 8 1/2 x 11 autograph cards will be distributed. A complete numerical roster is printed on both sets of cards, making it easier for fans to locate players.
Sports Information Director Chris Anderson would like to remind everyone that Photo Day is intended to be a fun day for children. Fans are asked to limit their autograph items to one per player/coach and to please adhere to the safety of youth in attendance by forming single-file lines up to each table and not to push or shove.
The concession stand will be open just outside the Northeast corner of the stadium from 1 to 3 p.m., while the SID office will have 2002 media guides and posters (offensive, defensive and special teams) for sale throughout the afternoon in the Southeast corner of the stadium and at Huskers Authentic, which will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday.
