Lincoln, Neb. ? The No. 9/8 Nebraska football team practiced for two hours Thursday afternoon at Memorial Stadium reviewing Saturday night?s game plan and working on special teams, as the Huskers wrap up preparations for their showdown with Troy State.
"The guys were in sweats, and they moved around pretty good," Head Coach Frank Solich said. "We basically reviewed the game plan, plus a review of all special teams work. It went as usual for a Thursday practice."
The Huskers and Trojans are set to square off at 6 p.m. Saturday night at Memorial Stadium. The game will be jointly webcast on HuskersNside.com, FOXsports.com on Lycos and RealNetworks? for members of their individual subscription offerings.
"All signs are good that our guys are ready to go," Solich said. "It has been a tough week for them having started school, and you are coming off two-a-days and your first game. It all kind of jumps on you, but they have battled through that, and I think they are ready to play well."
Eric Crouch and Dominic Raiola will have their jerseys retired during a halftime ceremony at Saturday?s game against Troy State. The duo will also become members of the Nebraska Hall of Fame. Crouch will be in attendance, but due to a conflicting practice schedule with the Detroit Lions, Raiola will be unable to attend.
"Eric Crouch is coming back to have his jersey retired," Solich said. "He is playing in Kansas City on Friday night and has Saturday off, so that enabled him to come to the game, and we are looking forward to his coming back."
Solich also announced that free safety Brett Lindstrom, who moved from quarterback in the spring, had surgery on his right foot Thursday morning. He is already out of the hospital, but a time table for his return is uncertain.
NU will walk-through Friday at 3:30 p.m. with Coach Solich meeting with the press before practice. Cameras will be allowed to shoot the first five minutes of Nebraska?s walk-through. Troy State is scheduled for a 2 p.m. walk-through on Friday with Head Coach Larry Blakeney meeting with the media following the 90-minute workout.
