Lincoln, Neb. -----The Nebraska football team practiced for two hours Monday, getting preparations set for Saturday?s matchup against No. 7 Texas. The game, which will be seen on FOX Sports Net (Lincoln--Channel 37, Omaha--Channel 47), is set for a 6 p.m. start.
Head Coach Frank Solich said the Huskers went through a typical Monday practice in sweats. Nebraska worked out on the grass adjacent to Memorial Stadium, and was able to get in a full practice because of the realignment of the lights at Buck Beltzer Field.
"They went at it pretty good today in terms of movement and getting places, wanting to execute things well," Solich said. "With the darkness setting in on us very quickly, we have a good deal set up for where we can utilize the old baseball stadium lights, and can even utilize them inside the track area and the other field. That is a big plus for us in terms of getting a whole practice in (on grass) and being able to watch it on film."
Solich said the Huskers were basically healthy coming off their 38-31 come-from-behind victory over Texas A&M this past Saturday. According to Solich, senior rush end Chris Kelsay is still day-to-day and did not practice Monday, while sophomore rover Lannie Hopkins did not practice after being knocked unconscious against the Aggies.
"There are some guidelines we will have to follow with that and check with the doctors," Solich said of Hopkins? situation. "(Lannie) is not practicing right now and will not practice in the next few days. It could be that he is not able to play in this game (vs. Texas), but right now we just know it is likely that he will miss some time this week."
Nebraska will continue preparations for the Longhorns on Tuesday. The Huskers will also hold their weekly press conference on Level Six of the Memorial Stadium Skybox on Tuesday morning.
