Lincoln, Neb. ? The No. 9/8 Nebraska football team practiced for two hours in full pads Wednesday afternoon on the grass practice fields north of Memorial Stadium, as the Huskers continue preparations for Saturday?s game with Troy State.
"We practiced right at two hours today," Head Coach Frank Solich said. "We did have some one against ones at the very end of practice. They went for about eight plays with a mixture of runs and passes built into that station."
After practicing in Memorial Stadium on Tuesday, the Huskers moved out to the grass practice fields on Wednesday. NU will continue to get some work on the grass every week as long as the weather allows.
"The grass fields give us more room to work," Solich said. "I just like the change up in terms of having guys working on both grass and turf, so they really get used to it and conditioned to it because they are two distinct surfaces."
Nebraska will move back into the stadium for Thursday?s practice, as the Huskers work toward Saturday?s 6 p.m. kickoff with Troy State. Coach Solich and his assistants will address the media following practice.
The Trojans are set to visit Lincoln for the second straight year, after suffering a 42-14 setback in the first-ever meeting between the two schools last year. Troy State is scheduled for a 2 p.m. walk-through on Friday with Head Coach Larry Blakeney meeting with the media following the 90-minute workout. TSU?s walk-through is open to the media for at least the first 10 minutes, if not longer.
NU?s Friday walk-through will follow Troy State at 3:30 p.m. with Coach Solich meeting with the press prior to practice. Cameras will be allowed to shoot the first 15 minutes of Nebraska?s walk-through.
