LINCOLN, Neb. -- The Huskers shed the full pads today, lightening up their load during drills, but still worked out for two full hours on the grass fields. "We went in half pads today, and traditionally, Wednesdays are full-pad days," said Head Coach Frank Solich. "Then toward the end, we took off the shoulder pads as well. This team has always been a good contact team, so we weren?t concerned with that, we wanted to make sure we went into this game with as few bumps and bruises as possible."

Solich said that while the injury situation wasn?t bad, it seems the defense has been hit hardest. "We?re not too far off in terms of injuries for this time of the year, compared with other teams in the country, but most have been on defensive side. But we will be fine in terms of numbers."

The Huskers will continue preparations for the matchup with Kansas State on Thursday, before departing for Manhattan via bus on Friday.
