2005 Outlook: Curtis Ledbetter returns to the Husker program after earning All-Big 12 honors in each of the past two seasons Fifth-year senior who has made 103 starts since his arrival at NU and is a career .320 hitter with 21 homers and 110 RBIs Has been one of the Huskers’ best clutch performers, hitting .563 (9-for-16) with three homers and 30 RBIs in bases loaded situations Originally came to Nebraska as a catcher, but has become one of the best defensive first basemen in the Big 12 Committed one error in 473 chances at first base, as his .998 fielding percentage was the best ever by a Husker with a minimum of 400 chances Ranked 10th in school history with 439 putouts Possesses the work ethic to become successful, making vast improvements in his all-around game Impressed the coaches by coming into practice in the best shape of his career and the results were evident throughout the fall Will likely open the season in the middle of the Husker lineup and share time with Brandon Buckman at first base this season Is on pace to graduate in May with a news-editorial degree.

2002: Ledbetter redshirted in 2002, his first year at Nebraska.
Garden City Community College/Lawrence High School: Ledbetter played one season for Coach Todd Briggs at Garden City Community College, earning honorable-mention All-Jayhawk League honors Batted .404 with 13 home runs, 55 RBIs and 58 runs scored, while throwing out 50 percent of would-be base stealers as the starting catcher Was one of the top catchers in the Midwest for Coach David Petry’s club at Lawrence High School, guiding his team to a Class 6A state title as a senior Named state MVP and a first-team all-state selection after batting .627 with 13 homers and 47 RBIs, setting school records in all three categories, along with 14 stolen bases Selected in the 39th round by Cleveland in the 2000 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft Chose Nebraska over Missouri, Kansas State, New Mexico, Michigan, Arkansas, Miami, Florida and Texas Tech.
