  • Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll (Spring 2003)

2004 Outlook
For walk-on Andy Lomax, being a Husker is a way of life. The redshirt freshman is a third-generation Husker who walked on to the squad in 2003. He saw significant action during the Red/White Series, batting .190, driving in four runs and scoring four times. Lomax will continue to provide depth at the catching spot, while helping as a bullpen catcher. While he has yet to appear in a game, his value to the team is not lost on either his coaches or teammates.

"Andy has a lot of dedication to this program, and the coaches and his teammates see how hard he works every day," Head Coach Mike Anderson said. "He has outstanding work habits and that rubs off on his teammates."

2003 - Freshman
Lomax redshirted in his first season in the Husker program.

Before Nebraska
Lomax played for former Husker Stan Haas at Lincoln High School. He earned three letters in his career, garnering all-city honors in 2001 and 2002. As a senior, Lomax earned second-team all-state honors from the Lincoln Journal Star, batting .449 with three home runs and 14 RBIs. His average and homer totals both ranked among the city leaders, as he earned All-Heartland Athletic Conference honors in 2002. He finished his career with six letters, as he also played football and basketball at LHS. In the classroom, he was on the honor roll all four years and was a National Honor Society Member. His grandfather, Everett Lomax, played football at Nebraska from 1937 to 1940, while both of his parents and his two older brothers graduated from Nebraska.
