Former Husker Naciska Gilmore enters her second season as an administrative assistant/video specialist with the Nebraska women’s basketball team.

"We think Naciska Gilmore brings a lot of energy and enthusiasm to our staff," Yori said. "She wants to be a collegiate coach, and this is a stepping stone to that goal."

Gilmore, who was a four-year letterwinner as a forward for the Huskers from 1996-97 through the 1999-2000 season, said she is thankful to be a part of the Husker staff.

"I’m excited to be a part of building this program," Gilmore said. "I feel like the program is moving in a good direction right now."

Gilmore’s primary responsibilities with the team will include the team video exchange, breaking down game film and scouting opponents, along with other administrative duties.

Gilmore graduated from Nebraska with a degree in sociology in 2000, before spending nine months working as a juvenile detention officer at the Lancaster County Youth Services Center in Lincoln.

Gilmore spent the 2000-01 season as an assistant coach and head junior varsity coach at Girls and Boys Town in Omaha. Before working at Girls and Boys Town, Gilmore spent five months working at Cedar’s Youth Services in Lincoln.

A graduate of Will Rogers High School in Tulsa, Okla., Gilmore played in 123 games for the Huskers in her four-your career with 26 starts. She helped the Huskers to three consecutive NCAA Tournament bids in 1998, 1999 and 2000, finishing her career with 529 points and 378 rebounds.

Gilmore has a two-year old daughter, De'Asia 'Aaziyah Tiera Thomas, born March 20, 2001, and an infant daughter De'Shawnti Amier Tiana Thomas, born June 16, 2003.
