Post practice Interview with Frank Solich

Lincoln -- The Huskers had their last spring practice in full pads Wednesday afternoon at Memorial Stadium, but Coach Frank Solich said they are not tapering off practice by any means.

"We need to make these last two practices count," Solich said. We had a pretty good practice today. They worked hard at it, but counting today, we only have two practices remaining before the spring game. We consider the practices more important than the spring game, because we have more opportunities for teaching and coaching after every play. We need to maximize every minute on Friday, even though we will only be in sweat clothes and it is the day before a game."

Solich said he hopes that the backup quarterback position gets clearer after the spring game, although Curt Dukes is expected to wear a green jersey in the game. Junior Mike Stuntz, redshirt freshman Curt Dukes, sophomore Garth Glissman and senior Brett Lindstrom have been taking all the snaps this spring behind returning senior starter Jammal Lord. Solich said Dukes and Stuntz will both get work with the first and second units on Saturday.

"The No. 2 quarterback position is wide open," Solich said. "We need to get that picture cleared up a bit."

The Huskers will practice Friday at 3:30 p.m. in sweats. The annual Red-White Spring Game will kickoff at 12:30 p.m. and the game will be carried on the Pinnacle Sports Network.
