Bid on a Football Signed by a Hall-of-Fame Player and Coach
More than a month ago in New York City, Nebraska's Grant Wistrom was among 18 players and coaches who were inducted into the 2009 College Football Hall of Fame class by the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame.
Wistrom became the 14th Nebraska player in the College Football Hall of Fame, along with six former Cornhusker coaches, including Tom Osborne, his head coach. Wistrom became the first Nebraska player to join the Hall since 1983 Heisman winner Mike Rozier was inducted in 2006.
Osborne was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1999, two years after he retired from coaching following his third national championship in his final five seasons as Nebraska’s head coach.
The footballs up for auction were part of the 10th anniversary celebration of one of Osborne’s most memorable games – a 42-17 win over Tennessee and Peyton Manning in the Orange Bowl. Three of those footballs were signed by both Osborne and Wistrom for this special Huskers.com auction.
Bidding for each jointly signed football begins Thursday, Jan. 28, at 2 p.m. and continues through Tuesday, Feb. 9, with auctions ending at 2 p.m., 2:15 p.m. and 2:30 p.m., respectively, that day.
Bids begin at $200 for each football with minimum incremental bids of $25. A $10 shipping fee will be added to each winning bid.
